The Lowdown
Trumpet lessons are so old even Tutankhamun used to take them. The legendary Egyptian pharaoh was buried with early examples of the instrument, so if it’s good enough for ancient royalty it’s good enough for us. It’s fair to say trumpet lessons are not taught on quite the same instrument today. The high voice of the brass family, to play a trumpet, the player must blow through pursed lips into the mouthpiece to make a sound. That’s the tricky part. After that notes are changed by pushing down the three valves with your fingers.
The Crowd
Trumpet lessons are ideal for anyone who wants to try something new and musical. Easily transportable and great to play solo or in a group, it’s an ideal instrument to start out with. By taking trumpet lessons you’ll be following in the footsteps of greats like Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis. Or perhaps your inspiration is a little more classical.
The Cost
For a little over £100 you can kit yourself out with a brand new trumpet. This will be a basic instrument for beginners and prices can climb into the thousands for a really good trumpet. A secondhand instrument could be a happy medium. Trumpet lessons in London are easy to find, so that’s a weight off your mind.
