The Lowdown
Recorder lessons are the classic introduction to playing a musical instrument. Millions of children down the years have used this humble member of the woodwind family to kick off their musical career. Blowing through the mouth piece you then cover various combinations of the seven finger holes and one thumb hole to change the note. But the recorder is a far more varied instrument than it gets credit for. As well as the most common descant recorder, there are also variations higher (sopranino) and lower (treble, bass, contra bass) in pitch. It’s not just for kids to learn to play the recorder either; JS Bach, Vivaldi and Purcell all used the instrument
The Crowd
Recorder lessons are ideal for anyone wanting to try something new in music. They’re cheap to buy, easily transportable and in no time you’ll be playing simple tunes. They’ll give you a basic grounding that you can use to move onto another woodwind instrument or just use the general music grounding you get from learning how to play the recorder to take on any instrument you like.
The Cost
Before you order your TasterLab recorder taster you’ll need to get yourself a recorder. With prices for the basic descant starting under £10, there’s no need to break the bank. As you progress the larger treble recorder will cost you around £20 and prices of more specialist instruments rise from there.
And Finally...
