London Fencing Club is one of the busiest fencing clubs in the UK providing coaching and training facilities to more than 300 members, including introductory courses for hundreds of beginners. It's run by 8 international Fencing Masters who are all highly advanced in their respective weapons. Club manager Tim Gadaski was born in the Soviet Siberia and from the age of 3 was teaching himself to fence with the help of nature. He spent many years in the navy before becoming a fencing and dancing instructor to the Russian president bodyguards. Most members of the club are recreational fencers but there is also a strong competitive section. It is one of the only clubs in London offering group lessons for all levels of fencing (beginners, intermediate and advanced). This means that upon completion of a beginners course you can proceed to the next level with the fencing masters.

About the Taster
During your six weeks of beginners fencing classes in London, you'll be introduced to all the rules, traditions, techniques and tactics of fencing in a fun and sociable environment. While learning the blade work, you will exercise in pairs or with the coach, and each element is taught slowly to ensure that you fully grasp every move. By the end of the course, you should have acquired a general knowledge of the sport and feel competent to spar with more experienced fencers as well as having improved your coordination, concentration, and cardiovascular fitness. The course is suitable for anyone aged between 16 and 70, male or female, right or left handed! You don't need to be big or strong to fight - in fact, it can work against you - but you do need fast reflexes, good coordination, timing and intuition. Class sizes are small so you'll receive lots of personal attention.
What’s great about it?
Fencing classes in London are a more exciting (and sociable) way to keep fit than lifting weights on your own in the gym. You will quickly shed unwanted pounds while toning your bum, tum and thighs and improving your agility. Sparring is also a great stress reliever after a busy day at the office.
Mondays at 7 - 8pm at Finsbury Leisure Centre. Wednesdays from 6 - 7pm and Mondays and Thursdays from 7 - 8pm at the Central Foundation Boys' School (in gymnasium). It's possible to switch between classes as long as the courses start on the same week.
What to Bring
All fencing equipment is provided by the club. You just need to bring a t-shirt, track suit bottoms and trainers.
