How to take photos.. err, well we can all point a cube-ish piece of technology at an object and click a button, so how about - how to take good photos. From all the terrible photos we’re bombarded with on a daily basis on Facebook - it’s obvious that taking something aesthetically pleasing with your camera is a little bit of a higher task.

Most of us are happy just to get everyone inside the little view-finder box (no matter how awkward the pose) and have the photo turn out without some weird bluish tint or red eyes that make you appear to have been associating with demons. However, learning how to take great photos is one of the best things to do in London to give you a different perspective on the city that we love.

So in honor of providing your Facebook friends with some quality albums to peruse as they procrastinate, here are some photography tips from the lovely photographers we have offering tasters on the site.

Bevan with Dizzyfinch Studio wants to assure you that it’s NOT about having a fancy camera, extra equipment and maybe a photography assistant following you around with a big aluminum reflector. Taking good photos has a lot to do with developing your personal style and perspective, and the only way to do that is to take a lot of photos. At first, most of them will be bad. Terrible even. But it absolutely gets better if you just keep shooting.

Paul Hames has a bit of technical photography advice:

“One of the smallest things that makes a huge difference is this. On the eye piece when you look through the camera which is refered to as the Dioptic. When you pull the camera in and out of the bag some people knock this out of sync and put the viewing out which makes it harder to understand if it's in focus or not. There are simple + and - on a wheel next to the eye piece - just make sure it's adjusted correctly for your eyesight. Simple!”

The last photography tip I have for you is to work your angles. Meaning if you want to take creative photos - photos that people find to be intriguing - you need to be all over the place. Get up high on chairs, lay down on the ground, kneel, turn sideways. Yes, you will look silly, but if you practice at working your angles - you will definitely notice that your photos are much more captivating.
